City Guide: NYC Coffee Shops

I have visited NYC more times than I will ever know. I went often as a kid as I had family nearby, and then in college I went a bunch because my now-husband is from just outside the city. Today, I still have friends and family there, and I work for a company headquartered in NYC so I am there a few times for work each year too.

NYC Coffee Shops (that I've been to)

*I know there are more I have been to over the years, but these are the ones that stand out.

(1) Manhattenville Coffee (Harlem)

A great place to sit for a while and do some work. Highly recommend if you are way uptown.

(2) Stumptown (Inside the Ace Hotel) No place to sit, just a bar to stand at. Super hip. Great place to grab a coffee after getting off the train at Penn Station before heading into the office.

(3) Maman (SOHO)

A few locations, but I went to this one. Very French provencal. Has those pretty blue flowery paper cups you see all over Instagram.

(4) Cafe Grumpy's (Chelsea)

Again there are a few of these. I went to the one in Chelsea. On a cute street with beautiful houses nearby. Not a frilly coffee shop, but not super understated either. it's a great mix.

(5) Devocion (Williamsburg)

I sort of stumbled on this place and it is fantastic. A great weekend spot. Lots of seating and a huge industrial skylight. They have a really cool iced drink made from the berries of the coffee plant and it was incredible.

A Brewed Awakening Blog NYC Coffee Shop Map

I have made a handy-dandy map below so you can see the locations of all these cafes (I'm awesome, I know). The light brown coffee cups are cafes I have been to, and the dark brown are other locations or newly recommended cafes. Enjoy!
